Four people are facing drug-related charges after RCMP conducted a traffic stop and seized cocaine, marijuana and scales from a residence in the Upper Liard area last Saturday.

Watson Lake RCMP stopped a vehicle and police began a drugs and alcohol investigation.

Officers found small amounts of drugs – enough for personal use – in the vehicle. That resulted in a search warrant being executed on a residence in the Upper Liard area.

The driver was also charged with impaired driving and the operation of a motor vehicle when over the legal blood alcohol limit.

Approximately eight grams of cocaine and 36 grams of marijuana wrapped in individual packages for resale were found. The approximate street values of the drugs is an estimated $2,400.

Police also seized scales, a cell phone, packaging materials and $1,800 in cash.

Watson Lake resident Thomas Joseph Corcoran, 45, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A 42-year-old woman, who cannot be identified until she appears in court, is facing the same charge. She was released on a promise to appear.

Corcoran remains in custody in Whitehorse pending a further bail hearing.

Twenty-five-year-old Cameron Brooks Jr. of Watson Lake and 34-year-old Christian Papequash of Lower Post, B.C., have both been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Brooks and Papequash have been released on recognizances.

Brooks will appear in Watson Lake circuit court on Aug. 3 and Papequash will appear in territorial court in Whitehorse on Aug. 11.
