Squash championships held at Better Bodies

The territory's best junior squash players showed off their skills on the weekend at the Better Bodies and Squash Yukon 2008 Junior Squash Championships.

The territory’s best junior squash players showed off their skills on the weekend at the Better Bodies and Squash Yukon 2008 Junior Squash Championships.
The two day event began on Friday and featured four different levels of divisional play.
Stephen Grundmanis was in fine form, finishing in the top spot in the “A” division, while Sophia Flather also performed incredibly well, placing second. 
The “B” Division was won by Nicholas Terry, while Alex Kastelein came in second.
Kelly Panchyshyn won the “C” Division final in three straight games to take the match over Brandon Gullison. The scores were 9-4, 9-5 and 9-1. 
The consolation winner of the “C” Division was Coleman Newell, who defeated Anna-Lee Jacobsen in three close sets. The final scores were 9-7, 9-4 and 9-7.
Logan Harris got better in each game during his match against Graydon McDonnell in the “D” Division final.Harris won by the score of 9-5, 9-4, 9-2, while Territ White won over Nicholas Dobush in four games. The final score was 9-2, 7-9, 9-5 and 9-8.
In other squash news, the Vandelay Super Geeks won a close final against the Pacific Northwest Moving Haulers.
The final score was 19-17, during the last game of the 2008 Sunday Junior League season.
Graydon McDonnell, Kelly Panchyshyn and Will Parker each scored the maximum six points that can be won in an individual squash match in league play.
Stephen Grundmanis and Kai Knorr led the way in points for the Moving Haulers, combining for 12 each in the loss.
