Passersby help victim of attempted assault
Whitehorse RCMP are on the lookout for a man in his late twenties or early thirties who is the suspect in an attempted sexual assault that took place near F.H.Collins Secondary School over the weekend.

A 17-year-old girl was walking home near the school soccer field along Lewes Boulevard when she was assaulted by the man at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday, police said today.
The man choked the girl, then dragged her toward the soccer field, where he attempted to sexually assault her, police said.
The man fled when approached by several other people walking by. The witnesses contacted the police.
The girl was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital, where she was treated for injuries and released.
Police conducted extensive patrols in the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
The wanted man is described as having a medium build, with a darker complexion and some facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Police are asking anyone who may have noticed any people or suspicious activity in the area to contact the local detachment at 667-5555 or Crimestoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Police are also advising the public to take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.
