Wednesday night’s Whitehorse Summer Hockey League action saw the Casa Loma handily defeat Cinderwood’s young squad by a score of 11-4.

Casa Loma 11, Cinderwood 4
Rallying behind their ‘all-former-goalie line’ of Danny Johnson, Mark King and Currie Dixon, which combined for six of Casa Loma’s goals, the team put forward an inspired performance.
Despite having Yukon’s first ever QMJHL player, Ted Stephens and several top players from junior leagues across B.C. like Kane Dawe and Alex
McDougall, the Cinderwood Team was out manoeuvred by the wily company from Casa Loma.
St. Francis Xavier University’s rising star, Robbie Warner and University of Alaska Anchorage’s energy forward Jared Tuton both chipped in with a couple goals apiece.
“That Cinderwood team has a lot of skilled players and a lot of potential,“ noted Tuton after the game. “But it’s clear they’re still a little wet behind the ears.“
Don’t count Cinderwood out though; with salty coach Jay Glass behind the bench, they’re sure to remain competitive.
Action in the WSHL continues next week on Monday, with games at 6:45 and 8:15 pm.
All games are played at the Canada Winter Games Centre and with the structure of the league this summer, every game has a playoff-like atmosphere. Admission is free for spectators.
