The Whitehorse Rapids men’s over-35 soccer league moved into the playoffs Saturday morning with two fantastic games.

The early contest saw Klondike Business Solutions edge Pepsi 2-1 in a tense hard-fought game at the Canada Games Centre.

Skipper Phil Jackson thought he had led his Pepsi team to the final with a good goal early in the second half only for Pierre-Luc Lafrance to reply for KBS. Pepsi went on to waste a number of good chances.

With the clock ticking down both teams were thinking about overtime, but not Bruno Bourdache.

He still believed a winner was possible and kept his head while all around him were losing theirs.

Bourdache managed to steer a shot into the net with only 28.9 seconds remaining to give KBS the win.

Meanwhile, the late game saw Quest Computers topple Yukon Brewing 7-4 in a lung-busting encounter.

Superstars Guliano Rayo and Danny Macdonald traded excellent goals throughout the affair.

But the extra replacement that Quest had paid dividends as they outlasted their opponents, with both sides calling for extra oxygen at the end.

Scorers for Quest were Macdonald (2), Joe Morrison, Steve Insley, Andy Todd and an own goal, with Rayo (2), Kurt Bringsci and Jim Connell getting on the scoresheet for Brew.

The finals go this weekend.
