Roots leads the way in annual 10-kilometre championship

Logan Roots finished almost two minutes ahead of the next closest runner to capture Athletic Yukon’s 10-kilometre championship Wednesday evening.

Logan Roots finished almost two minutes ahead of the next closest runner to capture Athletic Yukon’s 10-kilometre championship Wednesday evening.

Roots ran the route in 36 minutes and 46 seconds.

Running in the master II division, Yukon MP Ryan Leef posted the second fastest time – 38:35.

Darby McIntyre, running in the midget category, was third fastest overall with a time of 39:58.

Don White finished in 48:38 in the masters VI division. Keith Lay posted a time of 53:30 in the masters VII category and Dave Kallas of Watson Lake finished in 1 hour, nine minutes and 48 seconds in the masters VIII division, at the age of 77.

In the men’s walking category, John Storms finished in 1:04:34.

Running in the women’s masters II division, Anett Kralisch finished first among the women overall in a time of 44:37 while masters III runner Sue Bogle clocked the second fastest time with a 46:15.

In the masters I division, Sarah Johnson finished first with a time of 50:09 while Melissa Yu Shott posted a 57:48.

In the masters VI category, Margaret Mundell finished in 51:33.

Megan Sharp placed second in the masters II division with a time of 57:48.

Bonnie Love finished in the women’s walking category with a time of 1:11:14.
