Northern Novas synchronized swimmers are impressing the B.C. judges with their routines.
At the Mable Moran Synchronized Swimming Regionals in Surrey, B.C. at the beginning of April, athletes from the club came in second over four routines and sixth in another.
“We are very happy with how the team did overall,” said club president Keith Maguire. “I think as a whole this group of kids are gaining confidence and skills and having a good time too.”
The team had two soloists perform: Taylor Jobin was second in the provincial stream 13-15 for the Lower Mainland, while Camron Maguire was second in the provincial stream 16-18 for the Interior.
The club’s lone duet, Helene Maguire and Amelia Frey, was second in the provincial stream 13-15 for the Lower Mainland.
In the group routines, Kinley Batersby, Zyanya Hoffman, Mia Houde, Sara King, Mia Maguire, Rhiannon Poirier, Hanna Wallace and Choe Wright, were sixth in the provincial stream 11-12 for the Lower Mainland.
Amelia Frey, Taylor Jobin, Kate Josie, Ella Laliberty, Camron Maguire and Helene Maguire were second in the provincial stream 13-15 for the Lower Mainland.
For some of the first-year athletes, this was their first time going to a competition in B.C., said Maguire.
The Northern Novas’ next competition is on May 6 at the Canada Games Centre.
