Three games into their Canada Summer Games experience, Team Yukon’s men’s soccer team got their first win.

After a shootout, they won 6-5 against the Northwest Territories in consolation game action at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex in Winnipeg.

Yukon’s first goal came from Tyler Milton to get the team up 1-0 heading into the half.

But Team N.W.T. tied it in regulation and the shootout was needed.

Dawson Weir stood strong in net.

Yukon’s five shootout goals came from Simon Kishchuk, Matthias Hoenisch, Cody Amaral, Carl Knickle and Milton.

Team Manager Paul Kishchuk said the boys were relieved after the win.

“It was close all the way through,” he said.

The team will fight for ninth place today at 1:30 p.m. local time.
