In Rendezvous hockey tournament action last weekend, the Air North Jets won back the A division Sunday with a 6-2 victory over the Selkirk Bears.

The men’s B division final saw the KDFN Warriors edge the ORC Slashers 5-4.

And in women’s action, the KlonDYKES and Token Str8 Chicks took the crown with a 5-4 shootout win over the Screamin’ Beavers.

Four teams competed in the men’s A division, 12 played in the B, while the women’s division saw just three teams face off.

With the win, the Jets earned back their entry fee of $1,100. Due to a lack of sponsorship, no other monetary prizes were awarded.

The tournament ran smoothly, said men’s rec league president Kinden Kosick. He expressed thanks to the referees, scorekeepers, the minor hockey association for running the beer garden, and to Bud Arnold for handling the schedule.

Meanwhile, the Whitehorse Oldtimer Hockey League bade goodbye to their new friends from New Zealand last night.

The league welcomed a Kiwi old-timer team for a 10-day tour that reportedly included three hockey games – one at Mount Lorne’s outdoor rink – and a “snow-pitch” game on the local ball diamonds.

In league action last night, EDI downed Klondyke Dental 5-2 and AON beat Yukon Inn 5-3.
