The Atom Mustangs capped their year by claiming the peewee house league championship Sunday night.

The game marked the grand finale to a weekend full of hockey at the Canada Games Centre, as the Whitehorse Minor Hockey Association’s 2014/2015 house league playoffs wrapped up.

Playing up a division as all Whitehorse rep teams do, the Atom Mustangs defeated Northern Lights Optometry Ltd. 6-4 to win the championship.

Joshua Schenk scored twice to lead the young squad to victory, while Sawyer Adams, Hunter Long, Nolan Matthews and Austin Larkin each added singles.

Cameron Ryles potted a hat trick for Northern Lights in the loss, while Landon Marsh also lit the lamp.

Max Zimmermann added four goals in the victory, while Isaac O’Brien and Nathan Sutton chipped in singles.

The novice championship saw the Canadiens shut out the Bruins 9-0.

With Drake Cooper providing the heroics in net, Gavin McKenna provided the majority of the scoring punch with a four-goal performance.

Bryn Amos and Luke Levesque both added a pair of goals while Aiden Lund-Rayner rounded out the scoring with a goal of his own.

In the tyke championship, the Penguins doubled up the Wild 12-6 thanks in large part to the heroics of Kadyn O’Brien (six goals) and Gavin Gainz (five goals).

O’Brien’s sister Kennedy added a single while Kaleb Power picked up the victory between the pipes.

Oliver Halowaty and AJ Boyd each scored a pair to lead the Wild, while Lowan Larocque and Treytin Frizzell also notched goals in the loss.

The bantam championship was held last Wednesday night, and saw the Female Mustangs skate past Skookum Asphalt Ltd. 5-2.
