Despite a late push by Royal Flush Plumbing, EMCO captured the Under-12 Whitehorse Minor Softball Fastpitch Championship Tuesday.

In the second game of the evening, Titan Gaming Cafe won the U-14 title with a win over Casa Loma.

The two finals were held over from Saturday afternoon when rain forced the postponed of both games as they were heading into the top of the fourth inning.

Fans filling the bleachers yesterday evening were treated to entertaining ball.

The U-12 game picked up in the top of the fourth inning with EMCO leading 7-4. EMCO stretched the lead to 12-4 but Royal Flush rallied in the fifth with eight runs to tie the game but eventually lost 22-16 in seven innings.

“They could not hold on,” Mike Tuton, program co-ordinator for Softball Yukon, explained this morning. “EMCO had some pretty hot bats.”

Nathan Hirsch led the offence for EMCO, he said.

In the U-14 final, the game picked up in the top of the fourth with Titan Gaming leading 6-5 and Casa Loma up to bat with a runner on first and nobody out.

Titan Gaming went on to win 17-12.

“It was a really tight game,” said Tuton. “Then in the bottom of the sixth, Ty Beacon hit a grand slam and sealed the deal.”
