Bantam hockey will be on display at Takhini Arena Dec. 1-3 with nine games throughout the three days.

The Rivermen will play their scheduled three-game series against the South Zone Knights and they will be joined by a three-team Bantam International Showdown hosted by the under-15 Arctic Winter Games development team.

The bantam team formed in September is designed to work towards the 2018 Games and play in competitive tournaments leading up to it. This is an inaugural program in both the bantam and midget divisions after not enough players showed up for the Mustangs tryouts in September.

“It’s kind of a nice fit we get to play that same weekend,” Lawrie said. “There will be nine bantam hockey games.”

The Yukon team will be joined by the Semihamoo Ravens from Surrey and the Mat-Su Valley Thunder from Alaska.

Each team will play each other twice with a total of two showdown games each day and a Rivermen game.

“It should be fun, everything’s at Takhini for the weekend,” Lawrie said. “If we get the same kind of support and folks out we had in our first weekend it’s going to be great.”

All the action kicks off Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m.
