Argentina is the first team to advance to the next round in the playoffs after beating Botswana 5-0 this afternoon.

After a high-scoring game last night against the Dominican Republic, the hits kept coming for Argentina, which has made batting a priority in training.

“We’re really glad to see the hits coming, especially the runs,” said Argentina team manager Julio Gamarci Thursday night.

Other playoff games today include: Venezuela vs. U.S.A. at 2 p.m., Canada vs. Japan at 4:30 p.m. and New Zealand vs. Australia at 7 p.m.

Argentina will face the loser of the Canada-Japan game Saturday.

The winner of the Venezuela-U.S.A. game will face the loser of the Australia-New Zealand game.

Playoffs continue over the weekend, as the 2017 Men’s World Softball Championship ends Sunday.
