A runner who passed through Whitehorse on his way to Argentina last month ended his marathon journey in Prince George, B.C., last week.

Steve Petrucci, 58, was attempting to run 22,530 kilometres from Alaska to Argentina to raise money for Doctors Without Borders.

The Seattle native began his journey – called the RoadsEnd Run – on May 5 in Deadhorse, Alaska, and entered the Yukon capital June 20.

In a post on his Facebook page July 17, Petrucci stated his wife had lost her job and he needed to head home.

“Sorry to report that I must end this journey early,” he stated, before adding that all donations he received will be forwarded to Doctors Without Borders.
