Whitehorse RCMP are seeking public assistance to identify the vehicle that left the scene of an accident at around 9:40 p.m. last Friday.

Police responded to a report of a collision on the Alaska Highway at Raven’s Ridge.

The driver of a Toyota Echo was attempting to make a left turn onto the Raven’s Ridge access road when the car was struck by a four-door dark burgundy vehicle that had also been travelling north on the Alaska Highway, police said Monday.

The force of the impact sent the Toyota to the side of the highway.

The suspect vehicle initially stopped, but then fled the scene.

No licence plate information nor further vehicle descriptors were able to be obtained prior to the vehicle fleeing.

The driver of the Toyota Echo was reportedly uninjured, though the vehicle was left not drivable.

“The suspect vehicle will have likely sustained front-end damage,” said Const. Julia Fox.

“We’re urging the driver of the burgundy vehicle or anyone with any information that could help us identify the driver of this vehicle, to please come forward.”

The RCMP can be reached at 667-5555.
