A 26-year-old man was arrested on a charge of dangerous driving last night after several witnesses reported seeing a possibly impaired driver in the Takhini neighbourhood.

At about 7:40 p.m., Whitehorse RCMP responded to numerous reports of a green SUV with Alberta licence plates being driven in a reckless and dangerous manner.

Police were directed to a residence, where the suspect vehicle was found.

The front passenger tire was severely damaged, and markings on the roadway near the residence were consistent with those of a vehicle that had been driven on its rim.

The vehicle was warm to the touch and an odour of burnt rubber was present.

Through the home’s open front door, RCMP saw a man drinking from a bottle of alcohol.

He denied having driven the suspect vehicle.

The conversation with police moved outside the residence, and a nearby witness advised police the man was in fact the person who had been operating the suspect vehicle.

He was arrested for alleged dangerous driving and taken to the Adult Processing Unit.

Investigation into this matter continues.

The man’s name was not released.

So any allegations can get my neighbour put through the processing unit? Huh, scary. I sure would not be polite or voluntary if some officer showed up on my door step wondering why I was driving abnormal. There is something missing from this story!!!

He wasn't driving crazy, that's just how they drive in Alberta.
