A car crashed into the Pine Dental Clinic Tuesday, leaving a gaping hole in the side of the building.

No one was injured.

Receptionist Devon Golubic was inside the clinic at about noon Tuesday, when she saw a car pull up to stop at the curb at Black Street and Second Avenue.

Instead of stopping though, the car accelerated and crashed into the building.

“It was startling,” Golubic said. “Everyone thought that maybe a shelf fell or maybe somebody dropped something in the lab.”

The driver was OK, and her car only had some crimping in the hood.

Fortunately, no one was on the sidewalk at the time, and Golubic was the only person in the reception area, so no one was injured.

There was “quite a bit” of damage, she said. Part of the wall was sticking out.

“You could actually see right outside from inside.”

Golubic said the woman later told the clinic’s owner that her foot had slipped off the brake pedal and hit the gas pedal.

The clinic’s owner called Whitehorse RCMP. The woman’s car was towed, although it was driveable.

“It was definitely like what you see in the movies or on the Internet,” Golubic said.

It’s unknown whether charges were laid against the driver – Whitehorse RCMP were not available for comment before press time this afternoon.
