An online fund-raising site has generated more than $37,000 for the family of Tanner Sinclair, the man who was fatally stabbed in Whitehorse’s Copper Ridge neighbourhood early Tuesday morning.
The page, “Tanner Sinclair’s Family Fund,” has received more than 200 donations and many condolences since it was created Wednesday.
Sinclair, 27, leaves behind his wife, Whitney Sandulak, and daughter, Keele. They were expecting a baby in several weeks.
According to the page’s creator, Pamela Key, Sinclair did not have life insurance.
“There are immediate expenses for Whitney and family as she prepares for life in Tanner’s absence,” Key wrote.
“Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and will be provided directly to Tanner’s family to be used as required.”
Ann Asquith, owner of The Studio, a yoga and Pilates centre in Granger, is also collecting donations for Sinclair’s family.
To donate, call The Studio at 456-2748 or visit the online campaign at www.gofundme.com/bo3z98.
Meanwhile, the RCMP have located a car belonging to Michael MacPherson.
Police issued an arrest warrant for second-degree murder Tuesday evening following the fatal stabbing.
Thanks to tips from the public, officers located MacPherson’s 2002 Cadillac Escalade. They are still trying to find a second vehicle MacPherson may be driving – an older red Toyota Corolla.
That car is damaged with several dents. It may have the Yukon licence plate number HHS50. Police previously said this car was a Honda Civic.
MacPherson, 32, has connections in British Columbia and Saskatchewan and may have left the city.
Police say MacPherson is considered armed and dangerous.
He may also be using the names Michael Pound or Michael Proud.
A Caucasian male with brown hair and blue eyes, he’s 5’10” tall and weighs 220 pounds.
Police would like to speak to anyone who has sold a red Toyota Corolla within the last month.
Anyone with information about MacPherson’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Whitehorse RCMP at 667-5555.
Sinclair died at Whitehorse General Hospital early Tuesday morning after the stabbing was reported at a home on Lazulite Drive.
