By Whitehorse Star on January 16, 2017

Michael MacPherson, who stands accused of murdering a Whitehorse man in 2014, was arrested on alleged bail breaches last week in British Columbia.

Court staff in Whitehorse confirmed this morning that MacPherson has been charged with breaching bail conditions.

He has appeared in court in Whitehorse, and the matter has been adjourned to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

MacPherson is charged with the murder of Tanner Sinclair, who died from stab wounds in Whitehorse in July 2014.

MacPherson was taken into custody in British Columbia several days after Sinclair’s death.

The trial is scheduled to begin in March in Whitehorse.

MacPherson has opted to be tried by a jury in Yukon Supreme Court.

The jury will decide whether he is innocent or guilty of manslaughter or second-degree murder.

Wow, and another pathetic spectacle the justice system makes again. No wonder there is so much crime in the north. zif you can be released on bail on a murder charge, what does get you remanded? The youth justice act makes it so that a 14 year old who savagely beat a girl to death and left her on a trail gets only 2 years. Whereas a guy who sells blow, gets 5 years. The justice system has to start being consistent as well as stricter on sentencing. All the petty crime in Whitehorse like tire slashing, theft, public intoxication, etc.. . is done because they know nobody will stop them, to be fair, if someone gets out on bail or 2 years for a murder, then what will the sentence be for stealing a bottle of tylenol?

Jury? Hang the b#stard on Jan 17, 2017 at 5:38 pm

He wants a jury because everybody knows the Yukon goes easy on crime….hope Tanner's wife and child show up. Hang him--he is a murderer and like everybody else says, why is he out on bail when he committed murder????

Out on bail? On a murder charge? What kind of a sick joke is that! Totally disgusted. Manslaughter? I thought that was when it was an accident.

Well at least he did not kill somebody else while he was out on bail. I won't even ask why he was granted bail since I've been around the system long enough to know the unfortunate answer to that question.

Seems obvious this db should be remanded at WCC until the outcome of his trial.
